I have never been one known for an ability to read out loud.
I have never been one to claim to have patience to read instructions.
And now I have to admit, as ridiculous as it makes me appear, I am inapt when reading simple, short sentences.
For three days I have been scavenging up quarters for coffee in our hotel lobby, the first day exclaiming to David that "they charge now for the coffee in the lobby (our last visit, two years ago, it was free)."
We have put in $2.50, a small amount I realize, it's not the monetary amount that is the point of this entry, into the hotel lobby coffee machine and this morning I take a step back to read the note on the front of the machine in it's entire statement.
"Hotel guests ask the hotel lobby attendant for $.50 for coffee."
All along, I could have been asking for the money for the coffee!!!
